The RESCUE team participated the ESK annual meeting 2023

In November 2023, the RESCUE team had the honor of participating in the Entomological Society of Korea (ESK) annual meeting. Professors from the Department of Entomology at Kasetsart University delivered insightful online presentations on a range of topics including Black Soldier Flies (BSF), mosquitoes, and bed bugs. - Prof. Theeraphap Chareonviriyaphap discussed “Mosquito Behavior Studies and Facilities at Kasetsart University.” - Assoc. Prof. Anchana Thancharoen presented on “BSF Farming: Sustainable Practices in Thailand.” - Dr. Daeyun Kim explored the differences between “Common and Tropical Bed Bugs.” This was our first time attending the ESK annual meeting, and we look forward to future collaborations. The RESCUE team will join the second THE-GLOW co-creation workshop from September 25-28.

The RESCUE team will join the second THE-GLOW co-creation workshop from September 25-28. Currently, the THE-GLOW (Transdisciplinary Higher Education for Global Wellbeing) team is finalizing the first year’s technical and financial reports. The development of the second year’s courses will commence with a four-day co-creation workshop from September 25-28 at Thammasat University, featuring a new batch of teachers from each university. THE-GLOW, the RESCUE team’s first international project, stands for ‘Transdisciplinary Higher Education for Global Wellbeing.’ Launched in 2023 and running until 2026, the project aims to develop nine transdisciplinary courses (three courses per year) for graduate students from Kasetsart University (KU), Thammasat University (TU), and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Announcement: Special Seminar on Entomology (23 Sep. 2024)

Title: From Field to Long-Term Research in Entomology: Unveiling the Blood-Sucking Flies in Animal Farms Abstract: This seminar will explore the crucial role of field observations in establishing a foundation for monitoring and early detection of blood-sucking flies in animal farms. Prof. Dr. Gerard Duvallet will discuss how initial findings from fieldwork inform long-term research strategies and the development of effective pest management practices. Speaker: Prof. Dr. Gerard Duvallet Paul Valery University, Montpellier, France Prof. Emeritus Gerard Duvallet is a distinguished Medical and Veterinary Entomologist with over two decades of experience studying tsetse flies and trypanosomes in West Africa. Since returning to France in 1994, and following his retirement in 2008, he has focused on stable flies in Europe and Thailand, developing an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach that minimizes reliance on chemical insecticides.
