About the center

The Research and Lifelong Learning Center on Urban and Medical Entomology

abbreviated as RealEnto, is the first center in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region with a special mission to conduct research and develop a multidisciplinary approach that connects all basic and applied entomological sciences. In order to enhance academic capabilities at both national and international levels, the Institute of Advanced Technology of Kasetsart University, located in Bangkok, Thailand, has agreed to establish a knowledge center for academic utilization and further development in commercial and policy terms. The center offers urban entomology training programs for local students, the general public, and foreign networks, in line with sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the 20-year national strategic framework in Thailand.

The main missions of the center are as follows

Establish over five national and international research collaborations per year (with a budget of over 5 million Baht)

Organize training programs on urban and environmental entomology annually

Publish more than 20 research papers in international academic journals each year (over 700 citations from the publications)

Engage in joint academic collaborations on Urban and Environmental Entomology in the ASEAN and global scale

Provide support for teaching and advising graduate students' research within the international programs of the Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture, and other faculties at Kasetsart University

RealEnto aims to become the first center in the ASEAN and Asia Pacific regions that connects entomology research conducted by public and private organizations. Its purpose is to address research questions within the context of a research university and to be at the forefront of academic excellence in entomology. In particular, the center collaborates with renowned foreign researchers who are experts and leaders in the field of entomology worldwide.
