RNAi

imageOn 22 December 2025, Assoc. Prof. June-Sun Yoon successfully delivered a seminar entitled “RNAi Mechanisms in Insects and the Future Prospects of RNAi-Based Technology in Sustainable Pest Management” at the Real-Ento Research Center.

imageThe seminar introduced the fundamental principles of RNA interference (RNAi) as a key gene-silencing mechanism in insects and highlighted its potential as an eco-friendly, species-specific alternative to conventional chemical pesticides. Emphasis was placed on targeted pest control strategies that minimize adverse effects on non-target organisms. The presentation also provided valuable insights into insect immunity and physiological processes mediated through RNAi pathways, drawing strong interest from participants.

imageFollowing a fruitful question-and-answer session, Korean visitors were given the opportunity to visit the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farm, guided by Ajarn Anchana, where newly established love cages were introduced. During the visit, discussions were held on the potential application of RNAi technology in BSF farming systems, opening new perspectives for innovation in insect-based production.

As this marked Assoc. Prof. Yoon’s first visit to Kasetsart University, the event served as an excellent starting point for building long-term international research collaborations. The Director of Real-Ento, Theeraphap Chareonviriyaphap, kindly hosted a welcome dinner, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere for all participants.

imageWe warmly welcome all visitors to Real-Ento and look forward to meeting again in the near future.
